Someone (aka me) is forced to say this..

I LOVE SUPERCARD.
I was actually wanting to get a CycloDS, but since there was NONE in israel and the store guy, who I so wanted to stab him after he said "R4 goes best"..

Well, enough with old stories.
The new OS.. is way below exception.. Sorry to disappoint, but the new OS kicks major ass.
Seriously, Supercard have an awesome support for old customers, even that I got my card a month ago.. By looking at the forum "SC express gratitude to all their customers" I was like "Wow.. another of those fake thank-you messages" but when I saw the new OS's preview.. Holy crap. But when I had the OS on my DS (yay rhyming) I was like.. *Insert swear word*..

BTW : (random fact)
Who has a PSP, can really shout "Sony sucks" because we get this support from a OPTIONAL component, while their OS mutually sucks.

Well.. I had to do this, expecting this to be locked anyway.

Lol, i was kind of expecting a rant thread, but i guess it wasn't (or i'm wrong?).
Anyway, i think the new OS is good, it still needs some improvements, but they will be fixed with some more time.  And since it still allows to go to the old OS (you can go to it from EOS just loading msforsc.nds file) there's nothing to lose.
But in general i think that the critics to the OS have been pretty good overall, specially considering that it still needs some things to be fixed.
And the good thing is that we actually can help to improve it, lol.

I'd like to help then..
I agree it needs some improvements, but overall its fine. It didn't came with cheats though, I noticed but I were too lazy to download a usercheat file.
Only thing that disappoints me is the lack of realtime cheats. NO GAME gone unstable (perhaps broken sound, but nothing that affected the gameplay) for me, EVER. Hope it gets back.

The problem with the realtime cheats is actually related to the usrcheat.dat file that is being used now.
Before when using .scc files they just needed to keep the info from one of those files for each game in memory when realtime cheats were used, but since now it's only one big file that contains all the cheats, the memory isn't enough.
I proposed some options, like extracting the cheat info for a game before loading it and put that in memory like they used to do with the .scc files, or to include hybrid support for both usrcheat.dat and the old .scc files allowing to use realtime cheats only when the .scc file for the game is present, but it might not be possible.
Right now it seems that it will be only on the DS Two, but who knows.

Since I don't use cheats, this doesn't concern me but I love how it's just one file now. It was a damned hassle waiting eight minutes just to update cheats I never used anyway. Now I know to just not have them.

Well...if the Supercard team improved the Support Cheats system, I would certainly be switching with my sister (she has the Supercard, I have the R4). Until then, I will be using my R4 for now.

Good thing I still have the old SP8 OS, the realtime cheats are awesome at games like Super Mario DS (and other games with a sandbox feeling). Shrinking mario, change the castle colour and having a moonjump is fun. Ofcourse, the scc files are big and the cheats are unstable sometimes.
The thing is, why removing the realtimecheat function instead of improving it? It's like removing the realtimeguide mode, but improving the text reader. Having a usrcheat.dat file could be a second option if the .scc cheats dont work, but removing the realtimecheat system is just stupid if it works fine.
All your fun are belongs to me.

well. everybody allways criticize the supercard cheat system with multiple files, even knowing that that the only way to make it work inside the game!

but that feature never stand out, and people criticize a lot the time to start the rom ( .scc make the rom take more time to load ), EOS is just something people was asking for a long time ( removing the moonshell, faster boot/rom start/ one file cheat system)

it will not please a few people, but the great majority will be pleased!

in my opinion, the only problem of the old OS was moonshell. i allmost never use cheat at all to care about it!

Just like you, i don't really miss a lot the things that had to be removed.
Sometimes i used cheats, but i don't really needed them to be used in realtime (i'm ok with loading the before loading the game), but i guess it still better to have the option than losing it, lol.
And actually i almost never used the DS as a multimedia device. I only have like 2 videos and 2 or 3 mp3's on one of my cards, and i never played them on the old OS, i played them in Moonshell 2, tough rarely.
Now i'll have to go for a couple of hours since i need to test a bunch of games that some users reported, lol.

It should be possible in EOS to save the settings (patch/clean) for each ROM separately.
It's impossible to make things foolproof because fools are so ingenious.
