Some new infos about the DSONE new "Evolution" OS

Here's some new infos about the DSONE new "Evolution" OS.
I just got this beta version today.
1, bcuz the space of DSONE PSRAM is not enough to store the real-time ingame menu, team supercard has to store it on the microsd card, the real-time ingame menu will be slower than DSONE. But it's ok ;]
2, had tested the multi RTS(Real-Time-Save) function, works prefectly!
3, supports .dat cheat file now.
4, had not added files manage function yet.
5, long filename works.
This is the 1st beta version, so there are still many bugs.

The 1st version GUI, will countine beautifying it.
And there will be a more beautiful default official skin.

One big disappointments arises, being that they're still using the old OS. However there is no reason why their work on the OS cannot be substantial. Another disappointment is to hear that this is still in beta.

I don't condemn the need for using the microSD for menus I actually hail it. The great thing about this is that many flashcarts with ingame menu seem to have had to "struggle" with fitting a subroutine for all that stuff in RAM while the game is occupying it. I never understood why they couldn't simply swap it with disk space like Windows does with pagefile.sys. Their approach may be less optimal in terms of speed but it provides much more customizability.

I will NOT be disappointed by any of this as long as 8.3 filenames and cheat length are solved. I just wish they didn't base so much on the old OS and actually made the UI easier.

Please give us a beta. It may be unstable, it may screw the whole microSD filesystem, but we want a hands-on approach! Brightness slowmo and all that stuff looks tempting!

oh, nooooooo.....

It's not base on the old OS, even not base on Moonshell
It's just a new OS, though the interface looks like the old OS. if u had looked another official skin, u wont think it's a old OS :p

and when team supercard think it's ok to release it, u will get it

So it's brand new code? That's great but it's also kinda hard to believe they redid bmp jpg png pdf mp3 etc support from scratch just for their OS. What's the file/folder layout of the OS? Like how are the OS files and folders arranged? Can you post that please?

Based on the look of it and whats written above, it is completely recoded with a new OS base. It appears to have a very similar interface to the old one with a good amount of improvements, and what I was personally waiting for, a newer/sleeker cheat interface. In my opinion, if this new OS is what I expect, then the supercard should become the best flashcart on the market.

- I think the compatibility with the usrcheat.dat file is appreciable but a individual cheat file (like .scc) for each game is the best solution. Please do not remove the compatibility with scc cheat files.

- Please make a menu to launch our favorite nds file quickly (for homebrews & commercial games).

Well the usrcheat.dat is very convenient, with an editor, its easy to add individual games as well as multiple games with different ID's, of course you could always have the best of both and implement and swap between the two, thats just my opinion.

will it sapport long file name for saves and not 8.3 dos file names

will it fix the legend of zelda spirit tracks (E) version because i like to use only the european roms unless it as not come out in europe

The fixing of particular ROMs such as zelda ST european depends on a single file, ndspatch.dat, which contains a collection of runtime patches to be applied to games that have proven problematic. Yhis can be done in the current OS aswell.

While I don't know if team SC has plans to tackle the EU version, this can be done with a patch and I believe one exists.

I don't mind having to stick to the old two-thousand-scc-files format AS LONG AS the realtime cheats appear LONGER than 14 characters.

I don't know if Godslash can tell us... this OS was announced as a winter holidays gift. Do they mean a christmas or new year's gift or a chinese new year's gift?
